The CO₂ in the bottle is under such high pressure that it is in liquid form and evaporates as it is used. When there is liquid in the cylinder, it will show almost the same pressure when 100% full and 2% full, and only when all the liquid has been used up will the pressure drop very rapidly. Reading the bottle pressure alone will therefore give a false indication of the remaining contents.
