Hops - The green soul of beer

Hops are more than just bitterness - they are flavour, character and one of beer's most seductive ingredients. At Lund Teknik, you'll find a large selection of hops from both classic European varieties and modern American flavour bombs. Whether you brew lager, IPA or Belgian saison, we have the hops to take your brew from good to great.

Our hops are packaged with nitrogen, not vacuum, which ensures a longer shelf life and better preservation of the delicate flavours. Everything is stored at coolness so you always get fresh, potent hops ready to use in your brewing process. We carry both T90 pellets and whole hops (leaf hops)so you can dose and brew exactly the way you want. And of course with info on alpha acid and typical flavour notes on each product.

Hops are categorised by country of origin and then into leaves and pellets. Some varieties are only available in leaves and others only in pellets, but most are available in both.

Technical overview: the role of hops in brewing

Bitter hops vs aroma hops

• Bitter Bumblebee is added early in the boil and gives the beer its basic bitterness.

• Flavour hops Added late or during dry hopping, contributing aroma and flavour complexity.

Alpha acid percentage

Alpha acidity indicates how much bitterness the hops contribute. High alpha acid = more punch per gram.

Time of addition

• Starting the boil = bitterness

• Late cooking/whirlpool = flavour

• Dry hops = aroma and freshness
