Calcium Chloride, CaCl₂
If you want to brew beer like a true master, your water needs to be in top shape - and it's here Calcium Chloride (CaCl₂) comes into the picture.
This little salt superhero helps to Increase the calcium content of your brewing waterwhich improves enzyme activity, yeast health and the mouthfeel of your beer. And the best part? It doesn't change the pH very much - so you can fine-tune without messing up the whole mash.
Typical applications:

Used especially when brewing Light beer typeswhere extra calcium provides sharper flavour and better clarity.

Can also be used for Strengthen the water profileif you have very soft or reverse osmosis water.
Dosage:
Start with 1-2 grams per 25 litres of water and adjust as needed. Remember to measure both calcium and the sulphate/chloride ratio if you really want to geek out.
Fun fact: Also used for cheese and pickles - but we stick to beer!
