Flaked Maize from Fawcett – 25 kg bag
Flaked Maize are heat-treated and rolled maize flakes for brewing beer. They contribute fermentable carbohydrates with a mild flavour profile and can make the beer paler, lighter and crisper in the finish.
For light and easy-drinking beers
Maize flakes are used in pale lagers, pilsners, cream ales and other beer styles where you want a clean flavour profile and a lighter body without imparting a strong malt character.
Use in the mash
The flakes are heat-treated and can normally be added directly to the mash without further milling or precooking. Since the maize does not have sufficient enzyme activity for its own conversion, it must be used together with enzymatically active base malt.
