Extended User Guide

Installation

Reverse osmosis (RO) plant assembly

  1. Location:
    • Find a suitable location close to water connection and drainage.
    • Make sure the system is stable and upright.
  2. Assembly:
    • Remove the blue lock and hose to the RO membrane housing
    • Install the RO membrane as shown in the picture and reinstall the hose.
    • Connect the water hose (white) to the system and the tap with the included adapter or tap connector.
    • Connect the waste water hose (red) and lead it to the drain or tank for garden watering etc.
    • Connect the RO water out hose (blue)
    • Replace all the little blue fuses.
    • The tap is used to adjust the ratio of spinning water to RO water.
  3. Density test:
    • Slowly open the tap and check that all connections are tight.
    • Fix any leaks immediately.

Operation and use

  1. Start:
    • Allow the system to run for at least 15 minutes on first use to clean the system.
    • Adjust the tap to about 1/3 RO water
    • If you have a TDS meter, you can fine-tune the ratio between RO and spin water for optimal water utilisation.
    • Now collect the first RO water.
  2. Daily use:
    • Leave the system running and collect the purified water in a clean, preferably sterile container.
    • The water is now ready to use in your beer brewing.
  3. Mineral customisation:
    • Customise the mineral profile as needed with desired salts (e.g. calcium chloride, calcium sulphate, calcium carbonate or magnesium sulphate). See more under Water treatment

Maintenance

  • Filter replacement:
    • Sediment filter and carbon filter should be changed every 6-12 months depending on usage and water quality.
    • The RO membrane is typically replaced every 2-3 years or when efficiency drops noticeably.
  • Regular cleaning:
    • Flush the system with clean water if it has not been used for an extended period of time.
    • Store the system in a dry place when not in use to avoid bacterial growth.

Troubleshooting

  • Low water production:
    • Check the water pressure and temperature (ideally 2.1 bar and 12-20°C).
    • Check filters and membrane for clogging and replace if necessary.
  • Leaky system:
    • Check all fittings and gaskets and tighten or replace if necessary.

Following this extended guide will ensure optimal performance, longevity and the best quality of your brewing water.
